Phonics Level 3 – Advanced Phonics and Literacy

Phonics Level 3 is designed for children who are already confident English speakers and have secure early phonics foundations. The course gently extends reading, spelling, and comprehension skills while following the expectations of Key Stage 1 within the UK National Curriculum.

At this stage, children move beyond simple decoding and begin developing greater fluency, stronger spelling awareness, and deeper understanding of short texts.

What does Phonics Level 3 cover?

• Long vowel patterns and silent e rules
• Common vowel teams (ai, ee, oa, ea, etc.)
• Multi-syllable word reading strategies
• Spelling patterns and frequently used irregular words
• Guided reading with age-appropriate comprehension activities
• Vocabulary development and simple sentence analysis

Lessons balance structured phonics teaching with engaging reading tasks, discussion, and written activities. Children explore short texts together, answer questions, share ideas, and gradually develop more confident written responses.
