Deutsch für Kinder

Our ‘German for kids’ lessons aim to support  children in their language development.  By not speaking German at home, not having stories read to them in German, and perhaps not watching German TV,  children of expatriated parents are  often only exposed to the language guidance at school and therefore often lack the all-important language direction at home.

If your child is starting speaking German as a second language or you wish to prepare them in advance of starting school, this is the course for you.

Helvetic Language Institute teaches your child to communicate using fluent, full sentences. They will learn German grammar and words without realising it and find that they are able to speak, understand, read and write in a natural and fluent way.

Deutsch für Kinder

Our ‘Deutsch für Kinder’ course aim to support children in their language development.  When children are not speaking  German at home, not having stories read to them in German, and perhaps not watching German TV,  children of expatriated parents are often only exposed to the language guidance at school and therefore often lack the all-important language direction at home.

Children have a great capacity to learn a foreign language. They are natural language acquirers and are self-motivated to pick up a new language without conscious learning, unlike adolescents and adults. If your child is starting speaking German as a second language or you wish to prepare them in advance of starting school, this is the course for you.

Helvetic Language Institute teaches your child to communicate using fluent, full sentences. They will learn German grammar and words naturally and find that they are able to speak, understand, read and write in a natural and fluent way.

What the Course Offers

  • In each lesson new German words for the topic are introduced. These words will later be used to understand the unit’s story, song and grammar item.
  • The words are then practised with interactive games and puzzles, so that the children can confidently say, understand, read and write them.
  • Some units teach more than one word group and each is presented and practised separately.

Teaching methods

  •  Every unit contains a simple animated story featuring our characters. The stories show the new language in real contexts and are also used to present the grammar item of each unit and practise the new words.
  • Follow-on activities include gap-fill activities and identification of grammatically correct sentences.

  • Songs are motivating and fun. They are also a very powerful learning method to help children remember the language they have learnt.
  • There are easy-to-learn songs.

  • New words are presented and practised in fun word games. The children learn to understand and say the words, then progress to recognising and forming the written words.
  • Word games include matching words, memory games crosswords and activities to listen and click.
  • Each unit contains three worksheets: words, grammar and letters and sounds.
